Many people ask how the Roo's came to be. Well........... One night, my partner at the time, came home from work, and said he was bored and started reading some children's books and said it would be fun to write books for kids. I said "what would we write about", then I mentioned how about every day issues that children of gay parents might deal with. Then I asked, what kind of characters would we use, my partner suggested animals, and with a great big smile...said, how about kangaroos, I love kangaroos, and so that was the beginning.

It had been a couple of months, and we really didn't pursue the idea, then one cold lonely october night while my partner was at school, I sat down at the computer and just started typing. When my partner came home, I was so excited, and sat him down and read what I had written...he loved it......and The Roo's were here for all of us to love and enjoy.

Now...... for the future, I decided that The Roo's would not be just a single book, but a series of books that deal with real life issues for children with same sex parents, not only to help those families but all families to learn and accept the differences that exist in the world today.
